I stayed up til midnight last night working on my sleeping beauty. All was complete except for some last minute addition of texture and a few swipes of the palette knife for pops of color to crisp up the edges. This morning I got up at 6 am to work on it some more. In total, this piece took ten hours to complete. Just finished putting the second coat of varnish on and I can't wait to see it on the wall. The colors really intensify with the varnish, but in order to take a photo without a terrible glare, I photographed Layover before varnishing.
I'm really, really pleased with this piece and it will be headed to Annapolis next weekend to (hopefully) be chosen for the Maryland Federation of Art's Fall Member Show. Please come and see it if you can. The colors are incredibly vibrant in person...unlike the photo that I took before the sun was fully up this morning.
