Now that the snow if over with, we're getting pummeled with rain.  Go figure.

I was in my studio today for four hours giving a little love to my larger piece for my March show. I'd planned on getting two smaller works sketched out, but the painting below was going well and I didn't want to stop and interrupt my creative juju.

Spending three hours on clouds may seem a little silly, but it takes a heck of a long time to make them look somewhat natural (if you are me).  In other words, making something look light and billowy takes heavy handed paint and much blending.  I use my fingers because brushes are often too harsh on the paint....they leave brush marks and I wanted a smoother look.

Anyhow, I won't write a book today.  One of my New Year's Resolutions is to be more brief (even if it's considerably less fun on my end :)

First thing I did today is crop my chapel.  I didn't realize prior that I'd messed up the sketch.  The roof and right side of the building was off.

Another layer of red went down here and I crisped up some of the cloud edges.

I'll be working on this piece again on Wednesday.  Thanks for looking!
