Now that spring is here, I’m thinking about Southwest Utah and some of the great hikes I’ve had there. Here in Michigan, it’s still very much wintertime with night temps below freezing. But in the south and southwest part of our beautiful country, the flowers are budding, blooming, and the earthy winter hues are being replaced with new life. Carpets of low-lying brush with vibrant flowers and foliage are pushing upward and life starts again. I wish I was there to enjoy it but since I can’t, I decided to paint what I’d love to see out my studio window (as we get pelted with cold rain today).
