Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

Day Three: A Still Untitled Soothing Large Abstract Piece

I haven’t yet added in the main idea of this piece, but local folks here may recognize the form when I am finished. Below is where I stopped last night around 9:30pm. Night time seems to be when the best music plays on the station that Amazon has created based on all my varying favorite styles and genres.

I might have been the only abstract artistic on the Leeleneau Peninsula last night listening to Gordon Lightfoot, Loggins and Messina, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Bo Diddley. Bo Diddley did a great live version of “Mona” with Tom Petty back in the last 90’s (1999, I think) that I listen to over and over…It’s on YouTube. He also partnered with Ronnie Wood on a live show, but I had to turn that off on account of all the F-bombs. Fortunately, Wood was so intoxicated that my kids didn’t catch it before I put something PG on to listen to.

The best part is that my kiddos paint on the floor (on a tarp) alongside of me, learning the songs that my own parents had on the radio when they were young and our family was driving to and from the Chesapeake in a beat-up brown Ford Pinto with no air-conditioning and 90+ degree temps. We were blessed in that my grandpa and grandma had a little fishing shanty on the bay where we could jump off the rickety pier and swim. I also have sixteen first cousins, so the fishing shack was rather crowded. I actually think that close quarters contributed to the size of our very fertile gene pool. Most of my aunts and uncles married more than once so I may be related to half of St. Mary’s County, Maryland, or at least half the patrons drinking beer on the porch of Buzzy’s Tavern on any given hot summer afternoon.

Here’s an in-process of the soon to be completed (and named) piece. Inquiries can be made through my contact page.

Peace to you and our nation on this MLK Day as we remember the life and legacy of a 20th century saint. I’m sitting at my desk typing while snow is falling at a restful cadence. The perfect backdrop to a holiday that recognizes a man of God who paid the ultimate price for promoting unity among our people through the once-obtuse concept of equality.

When I wrap up this project later today, if it’s dry enough, I’ll post a photo of it hung on a wall where you can see the colors better.

Thank you for stopping in. Stay tuned for the finished piece.
