This large piece has been a few different ideas until I was determined to finish something that I could submit to the MFA Rising Tides show. The theme/purpose of the show is to feature work that illustrates what rising tides might be responsible for, look like, or how we might adapt to counter the loss of land to the sea. Of course, my brain being a bit off and always thinking of the comical upside to every situation, I determined that coastal high rises/office buildings may become human “aquariums” (humans in/under glass) for curious fish and underwater creatures to safely view humans in their natural habitat (namely, work).
Anyhow, I placed the painting in our living room and really love how it blends seamlessly into our newly painted walls. The color is “Mainsail”—a kind of pale blue gray with the slightest hint of violet. But, my husband just calls it blue.. In the photo below, the walls look more taupe than blue as the afternoon light is pretty poor in that room. Anyhow, you’ll get the idea when you see it.
This piece is 36x48 and is for sale. Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas. The title is still being worked on…
Thank you for stopping by! I’ve got underpainting going down on another piece tomorrow. I wish I could get enthused about smaller pieces right now but I’m trying to use up the large canvases in my studio since they take up so much space!
