Last night around 9 pm, I sat at the easel, looking at the canvas that I had started with parchment and cadmium red medium (photo in black and white was posted a couple days back as a possible twilight forest landscape). Well, last night, my inner Irishwoman would not be ignored and the piece quickly morphed into what I believe is a storm approaching an expansive pasture (for sheep, she says) on a rocky hill overlooking the sea.
So, there you have it. I had no control over my brush as it loaded up and dropped loose, thick parchment again horizontally, delineating earth and sky. At that point I simply gave up on my scrub pine forest with a moon glow backlight and went with it. I suppose my idea wasn’t that good to begin with and if better ideas come along, I should simply shut up and listen…
What a relief this morning to see that the composition that went so quickly was something worth keeping. I added a few touches of saturated color this morning and with a quick sign, was done and done. Our little guy has already claimed it for the bedroom that our boys share. He’s in love and I don’t want to break his little heart, although he will no doubt lose interest in it by mid-day tomorrow. When one is nine years old, interests change at the rate of the weather….
Anyhow, I will likely offer S/N prints of this piece on Arches Cold Press. Please contact me for details as I can have it ready to ship by the weekend of Oct. 2.
Thank you for following along and stop by later in the week for another 36x48 piece that I’m starting on here shortly…
Again, thank you for your time reading/looking today :)
