My husband and I are moving our work to a beautiful, larger office in downtown Traverse City, in a historic building that is in the process of being reconfigured into office/retail space. I’m so excited because not only to work across the room from my favorite fella—He gets 500 sf and I get 500 square feet and we each get a big window! That will be a vast improvement to the little dark cave I’ve been painting in since Nov. 1.
I’ve been praying hard for some space because my old home studio was 600-700 sf and had a TON on storage. That is a stark contrast to our new (to us) home in Traverse City, where my little crafting room is about 100-150 feet. I do have a closet, which is a blessing, but if you could see my completed paintings stacked up to the ceiling you would agree that creating new things in this home space has been a definitive challenge, particularly because I prefer (and greatly enjoy) going big with canvases. I simply feel more free to experiment and I think a larger canvas tells the bigger story of what I’m thinking vs a smaller canvas that may offer only a bite of what I’m currently chewing on.
I’ll post photos of it when we we get settled in but in the meantime, I am finishing up a smaller work and here is the “in process” visual:
Thank you so stopping by and hello to all the visitors recently. Summer is the busiest time of year for a mom of four and between my fellow’s travels and work, and a teen with covid recently (as well as my own very bad reaction to the vaccine) I’ve not had much time at all to paint. But, that will change on Sept 7th. Thank God for teachers and schools!!!
